Repič belongs to the first generation of Slovenian sculptors that were academically trained. He stands out among them as a distinct realist because his works display no restless formal quest. In terms of subject matter his works likewise remain within the established realist scope. Repič asserted himself chiefly as an exceptionally organized and important teacher of several generations of younger sculptors at the school of applied arts in Ljubljana. Among his students were, for example, Lojze Dolinar, France Gorše, France Kralj, Ivan Napotnik and brothers Boris and Zdenko Kalin.
