Born 1634 in Naples, died 1695 in Alicante (Spain). He was a member of a painting family which specialised in still lifes; his father, Giacomo, was one of the first painters of floral still lifes in Naples, while his uncle Giovanni Battista brought some motifs of the Spanish still life to the Naples area. Many of Recco’s works are signed, others can be securely attributed to him. All of them are in a style which is linked with the naturalistic tradition of Naples, while at the same time the influence of Lombard artists, e.g. Evaristo Baschenis, and painters from other European countries can be detected.
