Peruzzi was a founding member of the Slovenian artists’ group Vesna. Apart from portraits, figural compositions, tomb sculpture and monuments, he also produced medals and plaques. At the suggestion of Ivan Meštrović, with whom he had shared a studio in Vienna, he left for Split in 1910. He dedicated himself to teaching there and consequently neglected his own art production. Peruzzi’s oeuvre combines moderate realism, evident on his sitters’ faces, lyrical symbolist motifs, and echoes of Art Nouveau decorativeness.
