Year 2010 – the Chopin Year – is rich in cultural and artistic events organized to commemorate the great Polish composer.
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin’s birth the Mazovia Region Center of Culture and Arts has initiated, among many other initiatives, the Chopin Poster Exhibition.
The project was launched in 2009 when the Mazovia Region Center of Culture and Arts, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Institute of Media Art organized a contest aimed at creating a collection of artistic posters dedicated to Chopin.
The competition was exclusive in its nature - the organizers invited 20 prominent professors of Fine Arts and poster design from practically all Polish Academies of Fine Arts to participate in preparing the contest. Each could have recommended five artists to be invited to the contest, and each of the invited artists was allowed to send only one work.
As a result, posters selected for the exhibition demonstrate unique artistic value and represent the cr?me de la cr?me of the modern followers of the famous Polish School of Posters.
