Shepherd Playing a Flute
oil, canvas, 75 x 60 cm
NG S 982, National Gallery of Slovenia, Ljubljana
The attribution of this picture to Cipper, as suggested by Alberto Rizzi, is undisputed. It is typical of the painter both as regards composition and technique as well as psychological emphases. The Drinker and The Smoker in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan are very similar; our present knowledge unfortunately does not permit an exact dating.
