The Museum of Arts and Crafts is the oldest and
largest art museum in Croatia. A selection of fifty of their most important
paintings will be presented to the Slovenian and international public,
demonstrating the diversity, richness and significance of the artistic and
cultural heritage preserved in the Museum’s painting collection.
The exhibition will be based on the paintings of the
European Old Masters, from the 14th century onwards. It will feature
high-quality late Gothic and early Renaissance works. Among the Venetian
artists, paintings by Vittore Carpaccio and Bartolomeo Vivarini will be
presented. The Baroque section will feature paintings by Italian and Spanish masters, such as Guido Reni, Francesco Cairo, José de Ribera and an
exceptional work by one of Rembrandt's few pupils, Jan Victors.
Part of the exhibition will be linked to the
presentation of Croatian artists and Slovenian painters such as Valentin
Metzinger and Anton Cebej.
